Finding Your Passion

I seem to meet women all of the time that are in the same position that I have been in. They have given their entire life to serving their husbands and children and then when those children begin to grow out of the baby stage, start school and become more independent, these same women find themselves wondering “Now what do I do?” It’s as if they lost their identity. When my youngest child started school, I became depressed because I felt that I had no purpose. That’s not to say that my kids didn’t need me anymore, but they no longer relied on me for everything. I struggled with what I was supposed to do with my life now that they are in school. After months of hearing me complain about my lack of purpose, my husband finally told me to find what I’m passionate about and do it. That sounded great, but as I sat and thought about it, I honestly didn’t know what I was passionate about. How crazy is that?! Somewhere in the busyness of my life, I had lost my passion! I began to pray and ask the Lord to show me what I was passionate about, to remind me of the dreams that I had for my life as a child and to give me new dreams. Now I didn’t just sit back and wait for the Lord to just answer my prayer. I began to try different things that I was interested in, in an attempt to find my passion again. I discovered that I like writing. I’m learning to play the guitar. I’m finding my voice! This is not an uncommon story. Maybe you are one of those who like me, lost your passion. I am only now beginning to discover my passion. But if you will pray and ask God to help you find your passion and help you to chase the dreams that He has given you, He is so faithful to do it. Be proactive! Try new things! Don’t be afraid to fail! I am speaking to myself as well. You can find your passion again!

Matthew 7:7-8

7″Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
